The First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mr. Petre Kankava participated in the event held in Mziuri Park on the International Day of Disappeared.
"We have gathered today in order to remember and once again honor the memory of missing people, to reassure members of their families and relatives, as well as to share their pain. We should do everything in order to find missing persons or their remains, and also to support and help their familie”, - said Petra Kankava.
The First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality noted that the process of finding missing people will help to restore confidence between Georgian, Ossetian and Abkhazian communities.
In should be mentioned, that more than 2 300 people are still missing as a result of the conflicts in the 90s and the 2008 Russia-Georgia war in Georgia.
The event was held with the initiative of “Molodini” Foundation and the "Red Cross".
