On 7 September 2017, the 80th meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) was held in Ergneti.
Participants discussed all the incidents that happened from previous meeting, freedom of movement and illegal detentions. The installation of borderisation features, including information signs, also was discussed. The participants once again said that illegally installed barbed wires, fences and other artificial barriers make problems for local population.
The representatives of the Central Government of Georgia discussed the case of Akhalgoris’s resident Tamara Mearakishvili. Also the case of D. Basharuli was again discussed. Participants undertook to provide further information as it becomes available. Views were exchanged on changes to the language of instruction in Georgian schools in the Akhalgori district.
The next IPRM meeting will take place on 3 October 2017.
