Ketevan Tsikhelashvili visited Giorgi Giunashvili, who was released from Tskhinvali isolator

The State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili visited Giorgi Giunashvili, who was released from Tskhinvali isolator.
The State Minister positively assessed the release of Giunashvili as an important humanitarian and positive step that positively affects the entire peace process. She also said that in recent years in Georgian-Abkhazian and Georgian-Ossetian relations the positive practice of cooperation has been established, which will be positively reflected on the peace process.
"An important agreement and result has been achieved. This is the manifestation of pragmatic and humanitarian approaches and I think it should be assessed positively. In recent years, we have a positive experience of close and pragmatic cooperation around these issues. We should say, the Abkhaz side has made significant efforts, which should be assessed positively.
"I hope that similar problems will be resolved in the same spirit and we will be able to find pragmatic and humanitarian solutions. I hope that in the future we will not have such a needs anymore”, - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
Giorgi Giunashvili was illegally arrested by Russian occupation forces for so-called "illegal crossing of the state border” – the administrative boundary line between Tskhinvali region and the rest of Georgia on June 8, 2016. He spent almost 18 months in illegal detention. A Georgian citizen was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Giunashvili case wa discussed in different formats (for example, IPRM).
In recent years (2013, 2014, 2016) prisoners were released both from the Georgian side and from Tskhinvali and Sukhumi prisons. In March 2016, 14 Georgians were released from Tskhinvali and Sokhumi isolators.
