The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with the Director for Neighbourhood East, Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR)

Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia Janos Hermann and the Head of EU Delegation Cooperation Department Vincent Rey.
The State Minister informed the guests about Archil Tatunashvili's death. She also talked about the steps taken by Georgian officials in order to return his body to the family and to release two detainees. Tsikhelashvili emphasized the importance of the reaction and involvement of the international community in this process, as well as the pressure on the occupation regime.
The EU's involvement and role in the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Georgia, the EU-supported projects, financial instruments operating in this regard and future plans were discussed at the meeting. The EU representatives expressed their support for Georgia's reconciliation and engagement policy. Participants talked about the steps taken in the framework of this policy and future plans. During the meeting the importance of coordinated work between the Office of State Minister and EU also was underlined.
The State Minister said that in the current situation it is necessary to redouble efforts in order to restore the confidence between the population, as well as to help people living along the dividing line.
