The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with the Head of the "Global Network of Women Peace builders"
Mavic Cabrera-Balleza and the Head of Association “Tankhmoba” Yulia Kharashvili.
During the meeting the State Minister informed the guests about the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia. Discussions also focused on Georgia's peacekeeping policy.
"We agreed that the dialogue between the people is necessary. We were happy to meet the State Minister and have heard about his deep knowledge and commitment to this issue. We also reviewed his assessment of the role of civil society in the preservation and advancement of peace. People in this country are directed towards development and prosperity", - said Mavic Cabrera-Balleza after the meeting.
Ketevan Tsikhelashvili drew attention to the facts of human rights violations in the occupied territories and noted that women have a special role in fighting against it.
"I emphasized that much more work is needed to enable women to have joint projects on both sides of the occupation line. They can cooperate in humanitarian issues - that affect women, children and human rights in general - without touching the politics. These directions should be strengthen", - the State Minister added.
