10 March 2018
The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili visited Archil Tatunashvili's family in IDP settlement in Tsilkani.

He informed the family about the current situation and provided detailed information about the steps taken by the Georgian authorities and international partners in order to deliver Archil Tatunashvili’s body.

"First of all, I want to express my compassion and support to this family. We, the government and the entire society express our condolences. Even more – lots of ossetians, who live in Tbilisi, Kakheti or other regions of Georgia, even in Tskhinvali, really worry on this situation. They are sure that these are absolutely unjustified actions”, - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

She also commented on the Prime Minister's statement and noted that it is a big step forward in order to find a way out from current situation.

"This situation has been created since August 2008, because of Russia's actions. And our country and our society are facing these problems and Archil Tatunashvili's tragic death, the problems with the delivery of his body to his family is one of its expressions. That’s why our main task is to solve this issue. Right now everyone is involved in order to find the resolution of this difficult situation and overcome the main challenge - I mean the peaceful resolution of the conflict.

"The Prime Minister's statement is actually an open announcement of our peace policy, which contains very specific messages. On the one hand, it is the essential activation of the Geneva format, including the highest level of engagement. As you know, the Prime Minister expressed willingness to involve in this format in order to move towards the conflict resolution and take reasonable steps. On the other hand, the direct dialogue with Abkhazians and Ossetians. It should be mentioned that we also talked about this earlier and we have such precedents in the unpoliticized formats. I hope that nothing will stop this process. Unfortunately, we often have such experience.

"This strong statement proves that Georgia is a country that does not want war, confrontation and escalation of tensions. Georgia wants peaceful development and the protection of freedom and security of its citizens. And in order to achieve this we will take all steps – in nowadays and in the future", - said the State Minister.
