The 54th meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) was held in Gali on 17 January 2018. Special attention was paid to the murder of Giga Otkhozoria in the village of Khurcha, in Zugdidi municipality on May 19, 2016. The Georgian side demanded to detain the guilty - Rashid Kandhi Oghli - and bring him to justice
Participants also discussed the issue of Georgian citizens illegally detained on so-called illegal border crossing. The Georgian side has clearly stated that it is necessary to release those persons in the shortest terms.
Among the topics discussed were the incidents that have occurred since the last meeting, police and military exercises.
The next IPRM meeting will take place in Gali on 25 April 2018.
In February 2009, during the 4th round of the Geneva international talks an agreement on the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) was reached in the direction of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
The main goal of this format is to review daily incidents and ensure quick response.
The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism, (IPRM), chaired by the UN, with participation of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM). The Central Government of Georgia is presented on The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism with the representatives of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality and the State security service of Georgia.
