The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili paid a tribute to the memory of the heroes killed during the Russian-Georgian war in Shindisi.
"These boys showed an exemplary dedication and self-sacrifice. With this heroic death they really immortalize their names in our history and in our hearts.
"Today is April 9, one of the toughest days in Georgia's most recent history when our children, women and men have been sacrificed to the freedom of Georgia in the middle of our capital and I want to honor their names. These are a very tragic days, but 9th of April, as well as the Shindisi heroism is a symbol of unanimity and devotion. With such unanimous, but peacefully in order not to spill the blood of our people, we must fight for our freedom and independence".
I would like to congratulate everybody on Easter. Particularly those who are faced with barbed wire fences and various artificial obstacles, who can’t visit their relatives, can’t prayers, can’t visit the cemeteries of their relatives. I want to wish these people to live without wire fences. This will surely be achieved. That’s why we need to take the steps towards reconciliation, trust, forgiveness and better future, to make our children live in free environment and do not have such problems as people face today", - said the State Minister said.
Ketevan Tsikhelashvili visited Shindisi with the Mayor of Gori Konstantine Tavzarashvili and the representatives of local government.
