Ketevan Tsikhelashvili: Georgia's peacekeeping policy is consistent, very principled and focused on the well-being of conflict-affected population

The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili delivered a speech at the Rose-Roth Seminar session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

During the session "Abkhazia and South Ossetia: The situation along the dividing lines after 10 years from war" Ketevan Tsikhelashvili talked about the main challenges that Georgia has because of the continuous occupation. She also talked about the problems that are not the challenges only in the geopolitical point of view, but also are the daily conditions for the people living on both sides of the dividing lines.

She also talked about the situation in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region, the hardest tragedy of Archil Tatunashvili, significant violations of human rights in the occupied regions of Georgia and the ways to prevent these challenges.

The State Minister paid attention to the new peace initiatives of the Government of Georgia "A Step for a Better Future".

"This is an effective step, confirming that Georgia's peace policy is consistent and very principle. Is focused on the well-being of conflict-affected population, improvement of their life conditions, restoration of bridges, confidence building, dialogue and reconciliation, which is one of the most important prerequisites for sustainable peace and stability", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

After the session Eric Hogg, the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM), together with the State Minister, responded to the questions of the audience.

The 97th Rose-Roth seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly was held in Batumi in cooperation with the Parliament of Georgia.
