The legislative amendments concerning the new peace initiatives submitted by the Government in the Parliament of Georgia continue to be discussed. The State Minister Ketevan Tsikhelashvili presented the draft amendments on the Committee on Human Rights and Civil Integration and the First Deputy State Minister Lasha Darsalia on the session of the Finance and Budget Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.
The committee members listened to the basic directions of the peace initiative and discussed the contents of relevant changes in the law.
"The new peace initiative of the Government of Georgia is a step towards a better future, saying that our peace policy, our course and action plan is unwavering and consistent. This initiative is aimed at improving the needs of the conflict affected population and their difficult situation. At the same time, it opens new possibilities and spaces to the dialogue between different members of society, encourages people - to – people contacts, communication, cooperation on the common interests, which ultimately is directed towards reconciliation and confidence building. This is a very important prerequisite for the full resolution of the conflict", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili at the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee sitting.
She emphasized the importance of parliamentary support in the implementation of peace initiatives.
Both abovementioned committees members unanimously supported this initiative and amendments to the law for its implementation.
