The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili members of the Board of Directors of the "Jamestown Foundation” Matthew Bryza, Wilem Fogel, Glen Howard, Vladimir Socor and Adlen Wolstrom.
During the meeting, the State Minister introduced the members of the Board of Directors of the influential American Foundation the new peace initiative of the Government of Georgia "A Step for a Future" and reviewed all the aspects of this initiative.
According to Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, this visit of famous and influential experts is very important because they are interested in the problems of security in the region and in our country.
"When we talk about security, the main challenge for Georgia is Russian occupation. Today we talked about the situation in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region. The actions of the occupation lines show us that the situation is not frozen, it is not static. There is a sad dynamic process that creates a daily challenge for people.
"In this context we will also discuss the new, very thin and dynamic initiative of the Government of Georgia “A Step For a Better Future”. Its main aims are to help population affected by the conflict and confidence - building despite the artificial dividing lines", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
Matthew Bryza, the member of the “Jamestown Foundation” spoke about the steps implemented by the Government of Georgia on the way to conflict resolution and noted that the situation has changed in some issues in recent years.
"Although Russia provocative behavior, it seems that the Georgian Government has found a reasonable way to avoid these provocations. We have always called to Georgia to find ways to restore ties between the communities living on the both sides of dividing lines. This is a clever strategy", - said Matthew Bryza.
