Lasha Darsalia: The idea of Sayat-Nova's songs and poems is the main basis of our country's politics

Traditional celebration dedicated to Armenian poet, singer and Ashugh - Sayat-Nova "Vardatoni 2018" was held in Old Tbilisi, on Meidan. The event, which was celebrated in Tbilisi since 2014, was attended by the representatives of the Government of Georgia, the Tbilisi City Hall, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian Diocese, as well as cultural sphere and NGOs.

The First Deputy State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Lasha Darsalia addressed the guests of "Vardatoni 2018" and congratulated them with the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Georgia.

"Today we have gathered in old Tbilisi – the place, were you can feel our country's tolerance and ethnic diversity. On May 26, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Georgia. It is symbolic that in these days also mark the 100th anniversary of the first Republic of Armenia and the First Republic of Azerbaijan.

"100 years ago the people of the South Caucasus together started to move towards the new world and to independence. 150 years before our great Ashugh, our great ancestor Sayat-Nova sang the friendship, love and mutual understanding. It is also symbolic that the celebration dedicated to Sayat-Nova coincides with this remarkable date. The idea of Sayat-Novas songs and poems are the main basis of our country's politics and the whole philosophy is that the diversity is the strength of our country. I congratulate everyone on this great holiday", - said Lasha Darsalia.

"Vardatoni 2018" was organized by the Tbilisi City Hall, Ministry of Culture and Sport of Georgia and the Union of Georgian Armenians. The ceremony was attended by the artists from Georgia and Armenia.
