Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with the residents of the villages near the dividing line - Sakorintlo, Akhalsheni and Kvemo Tchala

The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, Deputy – minister for Regional Development and Infrastructure Ilia Begiashvili, Vice-chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Giorgi Volski and the Head of the Foreign Relationship Committee Sophio Katsarava met with the residents of the villages near the dividing line - Sakorintlo, Akhalsheni and Kvemo Tchala.  

During the meeting, which was attended by the local government officials, they introduced to the population the socio-economic development strategy of these villages, which has been developed and will be presented in the near future in order to strengthen these villages.

They talked about the work of the created in 2013 the Temporary State Commission. This Commission is headed by the Office of State Minister and the Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry and works on needs of conflict affected population. Within the framework of this Commission locals already received significant assistance in different directions.

The State Minister, together with the other guests, got acquainted with the process of asphalting, examined the wells and chlorination, which has just been launched. Also, she receives an information about the needs of the population of three villages, answer the questions of locals, discussed ongoing and future projects. 

"Today we meet Sakorintlo, Kvemo Tchala and Akhalsheni residents, but this is a message for all the villagers who have been facing the barbed wire for 10 years - we will continue and bring the development of these villages to a new level. The State Minister talked with locals about the situation after the August war, She underlined that despite the difficulties the State course is firm and Georgia’s answer on these challenges will be peace, prosperity and development.

"In future we will make even more dynamic steps in order to build trust and reconciliation between the communities that are separated, steps for humanitarian needs and development of the population. We take care and will continue to do it till the full-scale resolution of the conflict", - said the State Minister.

The State Minister discussed with the population of Sakorintlo, Akhalsheni and Kvemo Tchala the new peace initiative “A Step for a Better Future”, which first of all aims to take care on people affected by the conflict, those living near the dividing lines. The initiative includes proposals, which will give the population the possibility of trade, education and access to services.
