Multiethnic arts festival "Under the same sky - the dialogue of cultures" was held in Lagodekhi

With the organization of the Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality multiethnic arts festival "Under the same sky - the dialogue of cultures" was held in Lagodekhi. Youth from ethnic minorities participated in the event.

During the concert, which was held in Lagodekhi municipality "Concert Hall of Art Schools", representatives of ethnic minorities presented classical genre music.    Deputy State Minister thanked the participants of the concert, their teachers and parents and called the event a “celebration of talent”.

"Georgia is a multiethnic country and we clearly saw it in the program. Each of them showed us what a rich people we are. The have the talent on the hand and it depends on us how we will create conditions for its development. We, the State, should do everything for this.

"I want to congratulate kids on tomorrow’s Children's day and let them know that their rights are protected under this one sky called the sky of Georgia. Let us live together in a peaceful, tolerant environment where there is important each person, each child and not the ethnic origin. Let's love our homeland and strengthen each other", - said Lia Gigauri.

Young people involved in the festival were awarded by diplomas of participation and the books issued by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.

The festival "Under the same sky - the dialogue of cultures" is held from 2009 with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and United Nations Association of Georgia, on the initiative of the Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality. It is held twice a year in different regions. 

The concert was led by the head of the Kvemo Kartli branch of the Georgian Composers' Union, the author of the project, and the composer Manana Alpaidze. The event was also attended by Lasha Jugheli, Head of the Tolerance, Civic Consciousness and Integration Support Program (PITA) of Georgia, Mayor of Lagodekhi Jondo Mdivnishvili, composers Vazha Azarashvili and Merab Merabishvili. The festival is being implemented with the support of UN Association of Georgia.
