The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili held a meeting with Walter Kaufmann, the Head of the Eastern Europe Department of Heinrich Böll Foundation and new director of the Tbilisi Bureau of the Foundation, Shtepfan Maester.

The meeting focused on the situation in the occupied territories. The facts of violation of human rights in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions were discussed. The discriminatory environment in which lives of the population of Gali and Akhalgori was underlined. The challenges of the population living along the dividing lines and the ways of solving them also were noted.

The State Minister talked with the guests about the peace initiative of the Georgian government “A Step to a Better Future” and noted that it is in the process of implementation. She also provided them the information about the activities planned within peaceful plan, discussed the ways and perspectives of its implementation.

At the end of the meeting, plans for future cooperation were set up.
