The representatives of the Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, State Security Service, UN Women, NGOs and local population held an information meeting with the population of the villages Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality) and Pakhulani (Tsalenjikha municipality). During the meetings the challenges of the population living along the dividing line, as well as the topics of the recent meetings of the IPRM were discussed.
Representatives of the state structures have informed the population about the steps and projects taken by the Government in order to resolve the conflict, aiming to improve the situation of the population living along the dividing lines and in the occupied regions. They also listened to the needs of local and their difficulties and discussed the ways to solve them. The focus was on humanitarian and security issues.
At the meeting the sides emphasized the need for continuously extension of the meetings of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meetings.
"We can say that both meetings were very fruitful. First of all, we provided the population with information about all the projects, which can benefit from the peace initiative “A Step to the Better Future". Besides, they talked about teir daily challenges and the difficulties that are caused by the restriction of movement. Each person was given the opportunity to ask questions and get an exhaustive response.
"Such meetings are held periodically in Tbilisi and in the regions. We regularly provide information on media, NGOs and interested people about the IPRM meetings", - said Zviad Zviadadze, the Head of Department of Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and Former Autonomous District of South Ossetia.
The joint project of the State Minister's Office and the UN Women's Organization has been underway for two years already.
