The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili commented on the fact of the closure of the so-called checkpoint located on the Enguri Bridge:
"Right now the main priority for me is to care for the interests of those people who suffer the most from this illegal restriction. Consequently, along with all other relevant structures, we are intensively engaged in the work in order remove illegal restrictions as soon as possible.
“We have had communication through all formal or informal channels since yesterday, including through our partners. In this regard, I know that one of the most difficult challenges and concerns our population has, is connected with the movement of young people for their participation in the national exams. We work together with the Ministry of Education in order to insure the applicants from Gali the access to the higher education institutions in the territory controlled by the Government of Georgia. I want to convince and assure the population that all our steps will be determined by their interests and we will do our best to help them. I will make political assessments later, now the main thing for me is to prevent that the interests of population are damaged. We should do our best to remove the illegal restrictions in the shortest possible time”, - said the State Minister.
