The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with the Director at European Commission's Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) Lawrence Meredith.   

At the meeting the sides discussed the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia, existing challenges and ways to solve them. The importance of the EU's involvement in the peaceful resolution of the conflict and the support of the population affected by the conflict was underlined.

Ketevan Tsikhelashvili also reviewed the progress of the peace initiative "A Step to a Better Future". The guest provided information on the work carried out by the Government of Georgia in order to effectively implement this initiative. The parties also discussed the results of EU-supported projects and programs.

Future steps and projects were also discussed at the end of the meeting. Plans for closer cooperation and deepening of relations were outlined.
