Situation in Akhalgori and the grave situation caused by the closure of the so called checkpoint was the main topic of conversation at a meeting held by State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili with the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission Eric Hoeg.
The State Minister spoke in detail about the grave situation created on the occupied territory. She emphasized the facts of human rights violations. Tsikhelashvili noted that the population is on the verge of a humanitarian disaster. That’s why the immediate opening of the checkpoint is vital.
One of the main topics of discussion was, of course, the death of Margo Martiashvili, who was denied access to the territory controlled by the central Government. The sides also discussed recent episodes of erecting illegal barbed wires and barricades.
At the end of the meeting, the State Minister thanked the Head of EUMM for his work and called the work of the observers on the ground very important.
