The State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality held a remote meeting with the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar.
Tea Akhvlediani stressed the special role of the European Union and the importance of its active involvement in the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict in Georgia. The State Minister briefed the EU Special Representative on the process of Strategic Review of the State Reconciliation and Engagement Policy, updated priorities and visions, which was the main purpose of the meeting. The parties agreed to continue close cooperation within the framework of the Strategic Review, as well as on other topical issues.
“As you know, last year we started a Strategic Review of the State Reconciliation and Engagement Policy. It is part of a broader process coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop a renewed strategic vision for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. In the process of the peaceful settlement of the conflict, given the role of the European Union, I consider it extremely important to coordinate and cooperate closely with our strategic partners. That was the main purpose of my meeting with EU representatives today, during which we discussed renewed strategic priorities and visions for engagement and reconciliation”, - said the State Minister Tea Akhvlediani.
