Tea Akhvlediani held an introductory meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia - Ashot Smbatyan, who started his service from August of this year.
The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Vakhtang Gomelauri congratulated the Ambassador on the start of his diplomatic mission in Georgia and wished success in future activities.
Tea Akhvlediani introduced the activities of the agency to the Ambassador, both in the direction of reconciliation and engagement, as well as civil equality and integration policy. She spoke about the severe legal and humanitarian situation in the occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, gross violations of the fundamental rights of the local population, especially ethnic Georgians.
Tea Akhvlediani reviewed the priorities, goals and future plans of the civil equality and integration policy, noted the mechanisms and tools that are implemented within the framework of the State Strategy of Civil Equality and Integration, and are aimed at the equal involvement of representatives of ethnic minorities in various spheres of public life.
The importance of the partnership between the two countries, as well as the strengthening of peace and stability in the region, was emphasized.
The Ambassador of Armenia welcomed the efforts made by the state in both directions and expressed readiness for cooperation.
