The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality attended a funeral of the military and civilians who were transferred from the occupied territory of Abkhazia, deemed missing during the armed conflict of the 1990s.
Tea Akhvlediani paid tribute to the memory of the deceased at the Trinity Cathedral and expressed condolences to their family members.
Out of 23 identified missing persons, 21 are military personnel and 2 are civilians.
With the cooperation of the Office of the Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civil Equality of Georgia and the International Committee of the Red Cross, the first round of identification and repatriation took place in 2013 within the framework of the search mechanisms of the armed conflicts of the 1990s and the August 2008 war.
So far, 604 human remains have been found, of which 288 have been identified.
