The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani held an introductory meeting with Didier Trebucq, UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia.
The State Minister thanked the foreign diplomat for the contribution made by the United Nations in the process of peaceful resolution of the conflict, as well as for the humanitarian activities in the occupied Abkhazia aimed to help the population affected by the conflict.
Tea Akhvlediani spoke in detail about the difficult situation in terms of human rights and humanitarianism in the occupied regions, the progress of the implementation of the policy of reconciliation and engagement, including the peace initiative “Step to the Better Future”, the achieved results and future plans, which will improve the socio-economic conditions of the population affected by the conflict and aims to deepen cooperation and restore trust based on common interests between an artificially divided society.
The UN Resident Coordinator expressed his readiness for further cooperation with the Office of the State Minister.
