The State Minster of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, together with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, paid tribute to the memory of the heroes who perished in Shindisi on August 11, 2008 and laid a wreath of garland at the memorial.
Along with members of the Cabinet, the State Minister attended a memorial service for the souls of the Shindisi heroes, conducted by Metropolitan Andria of Gori and Ateni, together with other clergy.
“Today, we honor the memory of the heroes of Shindisi, who created an outstanding, eternal example of protecting the unity and honor of Georgia in these very places, which preserve the most difficult history of one of the most tragic and unequal battles of the August Russian-Georgian war. Indeed, the service and sacrifice of our heroes to the motherland obliges us to protect and strengthen peace with all our efforts and with even more attitude for the benefit of our people, for the progress and development of our country, so that we can perfectly fulfill the peaceful and national goals of our country, which are related to the integration of our country and the people union. I would like to express my condolences to the families and reaffirm my respect for them. Glory to the heroes!”, - said Tea Akhvlediani.
