Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with Swedish Delegation

Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili and members of the delegation discussed the importance of the activities carried out by the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia and talked about the expectations prior to the next round of Geneva International Discussions. Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili provided information about current situation in the occupied territories, including in the fields of education and healthcare. Mrs. Tsikhelashvili gave an overview of the vision and approaches of Georgian Government with regard to peaceful settlement of the conflicts. “People-to-people contacts are our path to confidence building. The Government of Georgia aims to create dignified living conditions for each citizen, to strengthen democratic institutions, to ensure economic development and to extend all benefits to the residents of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The role of European Union and member states of the European Union remains essential in conflict settlement process. Sweden has important role in support of our country and it offers significant contribution to the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia. As far as the EUMM is concerned, we think that the mission has to be maintained,” - Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili declared. Prospects of Swedish support to conflict settlement process were also highlighted. Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili extended her thanks to the members of the Swedish Delegation.
