“I have declared about the readiness to discuss the model of Federal Government during the committee hearing at the Parliament, which means that currently there are no negotiations on this topic,” – this is how the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mr. Paata Zakareishvili responds to the statement of the de-facto Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, about the denial of negotiations with Georgian side on the issue concerned.
“After Crimean annexation, serious uncertainty about the prospects of Abkhazia has emerged. Russia’s interest and policies are on the rise. Even the signs of so-called Abkhazian independence are brought to zero; the so-called police of Abkhazia is actually Russian, there are serious doubts with regard to property rights of lands and real estate, or the fulfillment of these rights. In such circumstances, it is immensely important and necessary to think about the future model, in which the interests of Abkhazian society, the identity and development of Abkhazian people is protected and guaranteed, unlike the reality positioned by Russia. This is precisely what has inspired me to declare about the readiness to discuss the model of Federal Government during the committee hearing at the Parliament. I have only declared about the readiness to discuss such model, which means that currently there are no negotiations on this topic. Reaction of Abkhaz side comes as a surprise – they deny ongoing negotiations under my guidance. I would like to stress once again – I have expressed readiness for discussion rather than development of negotiations. If such negotiations were active, any further deliberations would have been inappropriate and late,” – Mr. Paata Zakareishvili declares.
The comment of Mr. Paata Zakareishvili was released by the Office of State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality.
