The First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality met with the students of Central European University.
At the meeting Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili gave an overview of the situation in occupied territories, also reflecting on the issue of conflict, Georgian-Abkhazian and Georgian-Ossetian relations; she focused on current situation in the occupied territories in a view of human rights, healthcare, education and economy. Discussion also dealt with the problems that emerged for the local population due to barbed wires and artificial barriers installed in the vicinity of occupation line, as well as the future of conflict settlement.
The First Deputy State Minister provided her feedback to students through devoting her attention to Geneva International Discussions; in particular, she put an emphasis on problems and underling challenges that followed the Russian occupation.
The meeting was followed by question and answer session. Students expressed interest for the attitude of Georgian Government towards the conflict settlement process, also Georgia’s integration with the European Union, including visa liberalization process and benefits stemming from this process to the population of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region.
The students stay in Georgia as a part of their study trip for one week.
