Gori S. Tsintsadze Public School of Music hosted the classical music show at music hall – multi-ethnic Art Festival “Under One Sky – Inter-cultural Dialogue.”
The First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili delivered a welcoming speech at the Festival “Under One Sky – Inter-cultural Dialogue.”
“We arrange the Festival “Under One Sky” each year. This is a jubilant event, demonstrating that our diversity is our wealth. The most talented children with different ethnic backgrounds take part into the festival. This festival is called Under One Sky. We share one sky and one soil, we have one country. These children create the future of Georgia. This place illustrates how diverse Georgia is, how unique the ethnic groups are and how we can live in harmony. I think the very fact that the concert is arranged in Gori is symbolic, as we face barbed wires few kilometers away from here; these barriers are installed by occupants and they separate people artificially. This is a message for peace we convey for the residents of occupied territories – we stand here today, united by culture and common determination. Together, we build the future of our country,” – Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili declared.
Representatives of ethnic minorities from eastern Georgia and their Georgian peers took part into the festival, staging the pieces of classical music, characterizing their respective cultures. Participants were provided gifts after the concert.
The second classical music show will take place on 24 September in Batumi, contributed by ethnic minority representatives and Georgian youngsters from western Georgia.
The multi-ethnic festival “Under One Sky” was established in 2008 with the aim of staging regional performances to discover and support talented Georgian and ethnic minority youngsters.
The festival “Under One Sky” runs under the arrangement of State Minister’s Office for Reconciliation and Civic Equality. Composer Manana Alpaidze is the author of the project. The festival is supported by UN Association in Georgia, Ministry of Culture and Monument Projection and Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.
