On the occasion of the Fall of Sokhumi the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality has honored the Memorial of Heroes with flower bouquet. Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili has paid a tribute to the memory of the dead together with the Prime Minister of Georgia and the members of the Government.
“The day is the most tragic part of the Georgian history. We pay honor to the memory of the young people who sacrificed their lives for the country. 23 years have passed since the tragedy that caused immense suffering for both Georgians and Abkhazians. This is the pain never reduced for families, friends and the society as a whole. Nevertheless, the time is sufficient for us to see that the war has done no good for either of the side. We can challenge the past downfalls and bloodshed with peace-loving and developing future,” – Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili declared.
The State Minister also made a reference to yesterday’s initiative, noting that it is unique. On 26th September, the village Ganmukhuri, Zugdidi district, hosted the presentation of projects that intend to build 5-star hotel and botanical garden. The Former Prime Minister of Georgia Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili declared that similar facility should be built on the other side of the divide.
“By its essence the proposal is unique – it directly corresponds to the reconciliation policy. This is a specific suggestion for Georgian society to explore specific avenues of their willingness to share success and development, to take reciprocal steps and jointly move ahead to peaceful future based on our mutual interests. I am convinced that our future in European Georgia is something that unities us altogether,” – Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili declared.
