On 18 January 2017, the 73rd meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in the village of Ergneti.
During the meeting participants discussed problems that local residents face along the occupation line and its vicinities due to illegally installed barbed wires, fences and other artificial barriers.
Representatives of the Central Government of Georgia alongside the participants of the meeting also discussed recent incidents, which pose potential threat to existing peace and stability on the ground.
They paid particular attention to the issue of Georgian citizen Giorgi Giunashvili who is illegally detained in so-called Tskhinvali prison. Representatives of the Central Government consider that Giunashvili should be released unconditionally.
The next IPRM meeting will take place on 03 February 2017.
