The Statement of the Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality on the so-called parliamentary elections in occupied Abkhazia region

12 March 2017
“The so-called parliamentary elections that are being held in occupied Abkhazia region of Georgia, as well as other such activities, which were held there earlier, are illegitimate. So, this process, as well as its results, are devoid of any legal basis. The Georgian government and international community will not recognize these so-called elections. Moreover, the international community already has a clear position on such processes.

This territory is occupied, most of the people are displaces from this region and those who lstill ive there face a grave violation of their rights. Thus all such processes – including the pricking up the so-called elections and referendum in South Ossetia - are illegal and cannot have any legal effect”.
