The special statement of the Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality

14 March 2017
The Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Georgia condemns the decision on the accession of several units of South Ossetia to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
This decision shows the continuation of the process aimed the annexation of South Ossetia, which began in 2008.
Dozens of similar so-called agreements are already signed between the Russian Federation and de facto government. These agreements aimed at the strengthening of the exclusive and complete control of the Russia on the occupied territories of Georgia.
The processes of occupation and annexation continue, while the Government of Georgia tries to bring more dynamics to the peace process.
In parallel with our peaceful initiatives we see in the region military consolidation, which is certainly a challenge both for security and the humanitarian reasons.
