“We should unite with peace, reconciliation and forgiveness”, - said the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equity Ketevan Tsikhelashvili in the village of Shindisi, where she paid tribute to the memory heroes, died in the 2008 Russian – Georgia war.
“It has already become a tradition, we come here every year and honor the memory of the self-sacrificing soldiers who died for their homeland, who fought and sacrificed their lives for the sake of Georgia's freedom and independence. Here, together with the memorial erected to perpetuate their names, there is a temple of reconciliation and today, in the greatest holiday of Christ's Resurrection, our main message to our people living behind the barbed fences is that we should restore our relations with reconciliation, trust, forgiveness and thoughts about the better future. We must overcome the confrontation and the imposed conflict that we have experienced together. We must unite with the peace”, - said Tsikhelashvili.
In Shindisi the State Minister also congratulated the people, suffered from the conflict, with the Feast of Christ Resurrection.
"I would like to congratulate all of you with Easter, especially people, who live near the barbed fences. The people who still cannot manage to visit the graves of their relatives and every day face the restrictions of the freedom of movement. I also want to congratulate people who are driven out from the occupied territories and are still unable to return to their houses. People who live in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region. I am sure, that by joint efforts we will consistently disassemble these ugly barbed fences and unite the country“, - said the State minister.
