"More women in the peace process means more peace in the world". Such statement the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili made during the conference „Liberal women in politics and economics”.
The conference was organized by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation "For Freedom". Ketevan Tsikhelashvili talked about the women's involvement in politics and in particular in the peace process.
"I believe that the involvement of women in politics brings more benefits to the society. Including the area in which I work - conflict resolution and the peace process. I think that more women in the peace process means more peace in the world”, - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
The State Minister talked about the challenges of unresolved conflicts and the role of women in this process.
"Unresolved conflict, the continuing occupation and annexation of Georgia's territory since 2008 - thousands of people every day face this never-ending challenge. These people are not only the refugees, who are still unable to return to their homes, but the people who live along the 100 kilometers of barbed wire. They have a lot of problems – illegal detentions, restrictions in the freedom of movement. They do not have an opportunity to receive education in their native language. For example, in Gali district. For me, as a person involved in this sphere, one of the main priorities, in addition to conflicts peaceful resolution, is to make the life of these people better from the humanitarian point of view”, - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

As the State Minister said, the conflict-affected women are very active. They are the examples of battle worthy.
"Another reason why the factor of women is important in the conflicts resolution process, is that war and conflict victims are mostly women and children. Nevertheless, women are very active and work for peace. For me inspiration and a source of energy are the mothers, who lost their children. Despite of their tragedy they are ready to work for peace and reconciliation in order not to repeat the tragedy of their families ", - said the State minister.
