The First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mr. Petre Kankava participated in the working meeting on family violence and the violence against women. The meeting was organized by the Council of Europe and the Gender Equality Council of the Parliament of Georgia.
Peter Kankava informed the participants of the meeting about the campaign, organized by the office of the State Minister's Office against early marriages and domestic violence in the regions populated by ethnic minorities. He noted that such awareness raising campaigns are also necessary in the occupied territories. International practice in these issues also was discussed at the meeting.
The workshop was held in the context of the project of the Council of Europe on the violence against women, which provides the beneficiary countries with flexibility and response in the fight against violence and works for its prevention.
