First Deputy State Minister of Georgia for Reintegration Ketevan Tsikhelashvili will introduce the draft law changes to the members of parliament.
Today at 13:00 Tsikhelashvili will introduce law amendments to Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, at 16:00 she will address to Defense and Security Committee.
"There is active and business-like discussion in parliamentary committees. The law will become legally well structured and fair, which is important to the country with European values. Amendments are also important for the peace process. Also, the law maintains the main principle and defends territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia. So, we hope that majority of the members of the parliament will take positive position on these changes ", - stated Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
According to the law amendments initiated by the Government, foreign citizens or stateless persons will incur an administrative liability instead of criminal punishment for the first time of entering the occupied territories without permission of the Government of Georgia, also they will get the warning, and in the case of repetition of similar actions, the punishment will be defined according to Article 322 of the Code of Criminal Justice.
On 1 April, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili introduced proposed draft amendments at the meeting of Legal Issues Committee, as well as at the joint meeting of Foreign Relations Committee, European Integration Committee and Interim Parliamentary Committee on Restoration of Georgia’s Territorial Integrity.
