In particular, the Ambassadors of United Kingdom, Swiss Confederation, the Kingdom of Netherlands, Czech Republic, United States, Germany, Romania, Republic of Latvia, Republic of Lithuania, Republic of Poland, EU, UNDP and representatives of the diplomatic missions also attended the meeting.
Paata Zakareishvili and Ketevan Tsikhelashvili shared with the diplomats the situation in the direction of conflict resolution, also the visions and the policy of the Government of Georgia. They also answered the Ambassadors’ questions. The discussion also touched upon the current status of the Geneva Talks, the situation in the Administrative Boundary Lines, the freedom of movement, the issues of direct dialogue, future perspectives, non-recognition policy and the importance of EU and NATO integration in terms of conflict resolution.
"It was a regular meeting with the Ambassadors accredited in Georgia, though, with modified format and in informal situation. The meeting lasted more than for four hours and Ambassadors’, as well as our questions had been answered. We wanted to learn from the Ambassadors, how they see the involvement of their countries in the conflict transformation. It was a frank conversation about issues of our concern. I think, such informal meetings should be held more often", - said Paata Zakareishvili.
The Ambassador of Swiss Confederation to Georgia called this meeting useful.
"This kind of Meeting was very helpful; we enjoyed very much this dialogue with the Ministry and the international community, as we said it should not be just one meeting we need a series of talks about a future of peace building in Georgia, and in particular, between Georgia and Russia. We touched upon Geneva Talks, we touched upon direct channels, direct talks between Georgia and Russia, but also with de-facto authorities. We ended up with some very practical ideas about development cooperation, about improving trade situation, trust building and confidence building. I think this is absolutely new approach of the Georgian Government and we appreciate this very much and we hope to support The Georgian Government in that, in particular next year when Switzerland is chairman office of OSCE, we will participate in the Geneva Talks", - said Gunter Behler.
