The Commission Chairman, the Minister for Regional Development and Infrastructure Davit Narmania and the Co-Chair, the State Minister for Reintegration Paata Zakareishvili, familiarized the commission members with the information they received from the village communities located near the Division Line. The session has also outlined the ways for the solution of problems related with heating for winter season. Specifically, the village communities adjacent to the Division Line will receive GEL 200 assistance that might be used for buying the supply of woods and covering the electricity expenses. The mechanism for assistance shall be presented by the Ministry of Finances before the commission.
The Commission members also discussed the timeline for gasification, rehabilitation and construction of schools, kindergartens and medical clinics, the students’ assistance programmes and the cooperation with international donor organizations, including the reconstruction of apartments affected by the 2008 Russia-Georgia War.
"Under the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during these 2 weeks we have traveled to the majority of villages located near the Division Line and met with the local population. We have found out from the locals, that their damaged houses have not been restored, even though the funds have been used. However, the aim of our commission is to offer support to the local population, rather than to conduct an investigation", - declared Paata Zakareisvhili.
The session participants decided to organize a coordinative meeting with donor organizations.
"We shall deliver a needs assessment list to the donor organizations on which we require their support, including the database on the damaged houses. Today, we have discussed the information presented by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture. In particular, the Ministry of Education is able to provide free education for 50 students who live near the Division Line, whilst the Ministry of Agriculture will work for the rehabilitation of water pumping stations", - Davit Narmania declared.
