chairing the Working Group for Humanitarian Issues, the Georgian side has stridently emphasized the issues of humanitarian problems of the population.
In particular, Ms. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili declared, that during the working meeting, the Georgian side placed a significant attention on the installation of barbed wire fences and awful humanitarian consequences this process had caused for the local population, including the restriction of the freedom of movement, and the possible imposition of new regulations for the population of Akhalgori.
"We have also critically raised the issues related with the entry of pupils and emergency vehicles traveling from Gali district to Zugdidi. On these particular issues, we have been promised by Abkhazian side that they will seek for optimal solution so as not to prevent the pupils from receiving education and not to impede on receiving urgent medical treatment. Also we have been promised that a solution will be found for tackling the issue of cultural heritage. It might be possible to set up a commission, involving Georgian, Abkhazian and international experts", - Ms. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili declared, adding that the Georgian side has also brought up the issue of the return of IDPs in the Working Group for Humanitarian Issues.
"We have focused on this issue considerably, noting that we shall raise this problem essentially for the upcoming round. The return of IDPs is one of the most important topics", - Ms. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili declared.
The next Round of Geneva International Discussions is scheduled for June 16-17.
