During the meeting, the parties discussed the key aspects of the existing partnership and reviewed future cooperation plans.

During the meeting, the difficult situation existing in the occupied regions from a human rights and humanitarian perspective was discussed.  

Tea Akhvlediani emphasised the Council of Europe’s steadfast support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders. She also highlighted the significance of the Secretary General’s annual consolidated reports and underscored the Council’s vital role in the peaceful resolution of the conflict, including reconciliation efforts and fostering engagement.  

The purpose of the visit was to contribute to the preparation of the Council of Europe Secretary General’s consolidated report, “The Conflict in Georgia”.  

He paid tribute to the memory of Archil Tatunashvili, laid a wreath at his grave, and once again expressed condolences to the family.  

More than 1,600 displaced families met in newly renovated apartments in residential complexes in Kutaisi and Tbilisi, welcoming the New Year 2026.

The State Minister spoke to the parents and family members of the fallen heroes, expressed her condolences, and reaffirmed her support on behalf of the government.  

Tea Akhvlediani stressed the OSCE’s role in peaceful conflict resolution and expressed gratitude for the support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognised borders.  

Tea Akhvlediani introduced the diplomat to the mandate, priorities and goals of the State Minister’s Office. She reviewed the Office’s activities in the areas of reconciliation and engagement, as well as civic equality and integration policies, and spoke about the efforts made by the Georgian government to restore trust and build peace, as well as support for ethnic minorities and strengthen intercultural dialogue.
