The 52nd meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) was held in Gali on 17 January 2018. The participants discussed the process of ongoing borderisation near Khurcha – Nabakevi. They also drew attention to the negative impact of borderisation on the population, limiting their access to land and freedom of movement, the incidents that happened from the previous meeting.
The case of the murder of Mr. Otkhozoria in the village of Khurcha was once again on the agenda. Besides, Georgian side continuous to work on the issue of Paata Rogavas release, who was detained on April 5, 2017, in the village of Rike, Zugdidi district (also his father Archil Rogava was detained, but he was released on December, 5).
Issues related to the military exercises in the region were discussed. The Mission encouraged participants engaged in the discussion on security developments in the region to actively use the Hotline to give advance notice on military activities.
The next IPRM meeting will take place in Gali on 27 February 2018.
In February 2009, during the 4th round of the Geneva international talks an agreement on the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) was reached in the direction of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
The main goal of this format is to review daily incidents and ensure quick response.
The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism, (IPRM), chaired by the UN, with participation of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM).
The Central Government of Georgia is presented on The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism with the representatives of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality and the State security service of Georgia.
