The State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili met with the World Health Organization representative in Georgia Marian Ivanush.
The meeting was focused on Georgia's reconciliation and engagement policy in health care. In particular those state programs that are implemented for people from occupied territories. Participants also discussed the state referral program, which provides free medical care, Hepatitis C elimination program, the supply of various medicines for the region of Abkhazia, the construction of multi-profile clinic in Rukhi etc.
It was noted that the care of the people living in the occupied territories and providing them access to the medical services is extremely important to the Government of Georgia.
The State Minister also reviewed the situation in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region - the difficulties and challenges that faces the population on both sides of the dividing line.
At the meeting the sides discussed prospects for future cooperation and the possibility of the World Health Organization’s involvement in the occupied territories.
