The Statement of the Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality regarding the transfer of Archil Tutunashvili's body:
“The body of Archil Tatunashvili has been taken out from Tskhinvali by the International Committee of the Red Cross and handed over to the representatives of the central government of Georgia. Tatunashvili's body had been examined in the Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau and then transferred to his house in the village of Tsilkani.
The Georgian side, all relevant structures of the State and our partners have worked intensively on this issue. All the existing mechanisms were involved. We thank all parties who contributed to the transfer of Archil Tatunashvili's body. At the same time, we would like to say that this tragic fact will be investigated. In these difficult moments, the most important is to provide the family and relatives with the possibility to say last goodbye to a family member, and the state and society – pay him a decent respect”.
