The ways of implementation of the peace initiative "A Step for a Better Future" were discussed during the session of the Governmental Commission

13 April 2018
A session of the Governmental Commission for Engagement was held under the leadership of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili. Participants discussed the ways of implementation of new peace initiative "A Step for a Better Future".

The members of above mentioned Commission are the representatives of various government agencies (deputy ministers).

According to the State Minister, the action plan was set up on how to start the initiative.

"The main theme of today's meeting was the new initiatives. As you know, the package of legislative amendments was approved by the Government of Georgia on 4 April and sent to the Parliament. Of course, the implementation of this initiative is very important. There will be parliamentary hearings. The schedule of discussion of the amendments package will be discussed at the nearest bureau session.

"However, in addition to legislative amendments, this initiative also has infrastructure, financial, etc. components. So it is very important that these agencies bodies are involved in its implementation, define further steps and write plan of their engagement in the Action Plan", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

Last week the Prime – Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili presented an initiative which aims an encouraging of trade across the dividing lines, improving humanitarian and social-economic conditions for residents of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region / South Ossetia.
