Within the framework of "European Days 2018" David Agmashenebeli National Defense Academy hosted "Young European ambassadors" and pupils of Pankisi. Together with the First Deputy State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Lasha Darsalia and the Acting Rector of the Academy David Chkhetiani they acquainted with the Academy infrastructure and the current educational programs.
Young people listened to the lecture of the Head of Information Center on NATO and EU Nino Bolkvadze about the European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
Lasha Dzasalia, the First Deputy State Minister of Georgia on Reconciliation and Civic Equality, and Lasha Jugheli, the Head of the United Nations Association for Tolerance, Civic Consciousness and Integration Support Program (PITA) addressed the participants and cadets.
"The participants of the project "Young European Ambassadors" and young people from Pankisi Gorge were able to attend an interesting lecture and listen to the information about Europe and NATO. This event was held within the framework of European Days, which is aimed at informing of the population", - said Lasha Darsalia.
Acting rector of the academy Davit Chkhetiani called the event extremely important and said that the attending society received useful information about the benefits that Georgia has from NATO and the European Union.
"We have been cooperating with the Office of the State Minister of Georgia on Reconciliation and Civic Equality for several years, as well as with the representatives of ethnic minorities and we are actively involved in the "1 + 4 internship program”. Ethnic minorities are also going through internship at the National Defense Academy", - said Davit Chkhetiani.
During the event the participants of the “Young European Ambassadors” were awarded with the certificates. In the end a military dinner was held.
The project "Young European ambassadors" started on October, 2017, in close cooperation of the Office of the State Minister, NATO and the EU Information Center and the United Nations Association "Tolerance, civic consciousness and integration” (PITA).
The aim of the project was to raise awareness about the importance of Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration in the regions populated with ethnic minorities. Particularly in Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kakheti and Kvemo Kartli.
The project included two stages: retraining of participants and trainings in regions. At the first stage 30 young people were selected from the following cities: Tbilisi, Telavi, Marneuli, Dmanisi, Gardabani, Akhaltsikhe, Akhalkalaki, Ninotsminda. At the second stage of the project, trainings and informational meetings were held with the population of Kvemo Kartli, Kakheti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions.
Within the framework of the project, up to 70 trainings were conducted in 50 villages of these regions. About 1700 participants received information on cooperation between Georgia and the EU.
