The First deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Lasha Darsalia together with Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs of Ukraine Vadim Chernysh visited the village of Khurvaleti along the dividing line.
They acquainted with the situation and got an information from the Georgian citizen Data Vanishvili whose house is on the occupied territory due to the installation of wire fences.
Lasha Darsalia talked about the importance of the visit and said that the Georgian and Ukrainian people have a lot of common problems, including the problems of people living along the dividing lines.
"It's always hard to come to this place. Both Ukraine and Georgia have this pain and the heaviness of occupation is stronger in such a place. The Minister with his eyes saw the divided families, separated houses and split yards", - said Lasha Darsalia.
Vadim Chernysh also talked about the common problems and noted that the situation is familiar to him.
"I have the same feelings as with Ukraine. The population is suffering. The opportunity of people’s normal life is artificially restricted by the Russian Federation. They have household problems. There are many challenges to the local population because of political reasons. This is terrible in the 21st century. We will have discussions with our colleagues and representatives of the Georgian government", - said Vadim Chernysh.
The visit of Vadim Chernysh to Georgia will last two days.
The aim of the visit is to share the experiences of Georgian government, civil society and donor organizations on peace and confidence building issues.
The memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation will be signed between the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality and Minister of Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine.
