Pupils living in the villages located along the dividing lines attended the events held on Independence Day

By the initiative and organizing of the Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality children living in the villages along the dividing lines – from Shida Kartli municipalities (Kareli, Kaspi and Gori districts) will take part in the events held at Rustaveli Avenue on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Independence of Georgia.

At the Freedom Square pupils attended the concluding ceremony of military oath by the conscripts. They met with the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili and together with her participated in various entertainment and cognitive events on the Rustaveli Avenue.

The Rector of Tbilisi State University, the Defense, Education, Science and Finance Ministers hosted them on the Rustaveli Avenue. The pupils visited the Tbilisi State University's exhibition space and got acquainted with the TSU foundation, the history of the first republic and 1918-1921 education system documents and photo materials.

"We celebrate this day together with these beautiful girls and boys who are from villages that are divided with barbed wire. They arrived in the capital in order to participate in these events. Being here is one more expression of hope and belief that through greater education, more prosperity, European and Euro-Atlantic integration, trust and bridges we will be able to achieve the unification of this country, the collapse of the barbed wire and the life in united European and democratic State. In the State where every citizens rights are protected.

"Together with these children I would like to congratulate all of you with 26 May and once again say that we will peacefully move to the unification of our country", - said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
