The State Agency for Religions Issues joins the Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality. The Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze announced this novelty before the government session.
According to the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili the directions of work of the Agency of Religious issues are closely connected with the principle of civic equality and integration.
"In general, the principle of civil equality and integration is based on the fact that every citizen in our country, regardless of ethnic or religious affiliation, is equal and must be involved in all areas of the country’s life. It is obvious that this is an issue which is important and it will become one of the main directions of the State Minister's Office work", - said the State Minister.
The State Agency for Religions Issues was created in 2014. Till today it was directly under the supervision of the Prime Minister. Its mission is to support peaceful coexistence based on equality and tolerance, in the multi-ethnic and multi-religious environment, with historical experience and internationally recognized norms.
