The First Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Lasha Darsalia met with the Director of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Daphne Bergsma.
The meeting focused on the situation in the occupied regions, human rights violations, humanitarian and security issues and challenges.
They also discussed the policy of reconciliation and engagement of the Government of Georgia in the sphere of the peaceful resolution of the conflict. The Deputy State Minister introduced the new initiative of the Government of Georgia "A Step for a Better Future", provided information about the activities planned within this initiative. He also talked about the ways and perspectives of implementing this peace plan.
Lasha Darsalia spoke about the policy, which is implemented in the direction of civil integration. He noted that care for the full participation of ethnic minorities in public and political life is one of the main functions of the State Minister's Office.
Here he emphasized the importance of programs, which were created for the ethnic minority representatives in order to accomplish this goal. He has introduced guests the program "1 + 4" implemented by the Government of Georgia, which offers young people the opportunity to enroll in Georgian higher education institutions simultaneously and study the state language.
At the end of the meeting, the importance of continuing and enhancing bilateral cooperation was noted. The sides discussed future prospects of cooperation.
