KETEVAN TSIKHELASHVILI: ALL STATEMENTS RELATED TO THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AUGUST WAR HAVE UNANIMOUS SUPPORT OF THE PARTNERS TOWARDS THE PEACE INITIATIVE „A STEP FOR A BETTER FUTURE“

"International partners war-related statements unanimously support the new peace initiative "A Step for a Better future", - such comment the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili made as a response to the statements which have been made over the last two days by the international community.

"The international community clearly expresses its support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. After 10 years it is clear that this is not a challenge only for Georgia but also for the whole region and the European security. They say they will not allow Russia to violate Georgia's sovereignty by forceful methods and will not adapt the status quo created on the occupied territories of Georgia, which seriously affects people's live".

"10 years later it becomes even more evident that there is no alternative to the peaceful solution of our main problem. That's why partners strongly support our commitment to the conflicts peaceful resolution, the policy and steps of the Georgian government. In particular, the new peace initiative "A Step for a Better Future".

"I would like to thank our international partners and friends, because in all their statements about the August wars 10th anniversary they particularly emphasized the importance of the initiative "A Step for a Better Future” and its implementation is extremely important", - said the State Minister.

The support for the peace initiative also was in the NATO Summit Communiqué, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly resolution and the European Parliament Resolution.

Many countries expressed their support to the new peace initiative “A Step for the Better Future”. According to they, this is dynamic step, which has the potential to improve the daily life of the population affected by the conflict and to build confidence, help people in the villages along the dividing line.

New peace initiative “A Step to a Better Future” was presented by the Government of Georgia in April and was unanimously supported by the Parliament of Georgia.
